SOS BOOK Chapter 12: What are our inner needs?

OUR INNER NEEDS SUPPORT OUR WELLBEING.

The theme of us having deep inner needs is central to this book. If we can uncover them, we can utilize their inherent drive. This trapped energy can help power our recovery and our new life! So, what exactly are our deep inner needs? In essence, they are our deep inner yearnings & heart-felt desires.

We might not be aware that we have powerful inner needs & desires! These inner drives support our joy & wellbeing. How are they relevant to our new path, our future happiness and our fulfillment?

…Let’s find out now.

OUR INNER NEEDS PROMOTE CREATIVITY & JOY.

Our inner needs and desires are not just a spiritual or philosophical concept! They are higher order drives that interface with every aspect of our general wellbeing. This includes our mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical wellbeing.

Fulfilling our deep desires is also part of our creative expression. These drives invite the full expression of our unique gifts & abilities. We have a deep wish to express ourselves fully, and to contribute our talents. So, expressing these inner needs will support our wellbeing, happiness and our creative potential as well. This is how we maximize our potential!

WE HAVE AN INVISIBLE LIFELINE OF LAST RESORT?

Our inner needs support our wellbeing, creativity and joy. They also play an important role in a crisis. Our inner needs provide us an important safety net of last resort.

Our personal decisions can seem quite challenging at times. Our life situation can sometimes seem scary. We could do with having a lifeline when we are really struggling! Our inner needs connect us to our inner core and to our source. This inner connection could be thought of as an invisible ‘safety cord’. It’s like having a thin but sturdy safety-line that lightly tethers us to ‘Source’. If all else fails, we have this lifeline of last resort. But usually, we are not aware of this! So, our ‘high wire act’ as a human on Earth, can seem quite scary!

If we become totally lost, our inner needs can help us find our way. They can lead or point us back home! Or if we completely lose our balance and tumble, they can help lessen our fall like a safety-cord. This lifeline is there for us to follow, no matter how disorientated we become. But we must first understand where our inner needs really lead us! If all else fails, like on a high-wire or trapeze, this safety line can help to break our fall.

WE ARE ALL UNIQUE WITH GREAT POTENTIAL.

Each of us is a unique individual! We all have significant untapped talent, ability & potential. Our challenge is to realize & activate all this! Utilizing our powerful inner drives allows us to do this. By engaging our hidden talents, we can better fulfill our inner dreams.

Only by utilizing our hidden capacity will we achieve our full potential. In this way we benefit ourselves and help others too. In doing all this we find more joy & fulfillment. That’s what we inwardly yearn for and truly deserve.

On this path of inner discovery, we find lasting happiness and joy. Along the way we build contentment & fulfillment. A feeling of security & deep inner peace will then emerge. This transformative process can simply start by acknowledging that we have deep inner needs & drives.

WE YEARN FOR SATISFACTION & FULFILLMENT.

Our inner needs & desires are central to our human nature! These powerful higher-order drives cannot be ignored. If neglected, they start to demand our attention, in one way or another! This can be as a spiritual drive, or as a psychological unease. If ignored, they can present as emotional turmoil or physical dysfunction. Then finally a life crisis or disease can manifest!

…Are you ready to start exploring your deep inner needs?

IGNORING OUR DEEP NEEDS HAS CONSEQUENCES!

What happens if we DON’T accept our inner needs? What happens if we don’t follow our true heart-felt desires? We first experience a feeling of ‘resistance’ to our actions. There will be a subtle inner conflict, and we feel a vague unease. If we ignore our inner needs, then what we are doing will not feel right! We might then doubt our ability and procrastinate even more.

If we don't follow our true path, we also lose clarity and focus. Our mental confusion increases. Life becomes more of a struggle! We become increasingly frustrated by our choices and our life. This leads to frustration, dissatisfaction, and a feeling of despair. By not engaging with our hopes & dreams, life can feel meaningless and even hopeless.

If we keep ignoring our powerful inner needs & drives, we feel something essential is lacking. We start to feel ‘empty’ inside! We feel incomplete and not at peace with ourselves. We don't feel whole! This can lead to sadness or even depression. Continually ignoring our inner needs will lead to a disorder of some kind, and eventually to a life crisis.

INNER NEEDS ARE NOT JUST WANTS OR CRAVINGS.

We should not confuse our true ‘inner needs’ with superficial likes, wants, or physical cravings. These deep needs are our heart-felt desires, not mere whims, fashions or fleeting fancies! Our inner needs are not obsessive or addictive behaviors. Nor are they the basic animalistic needs required for our genetic survival. So, what is the real nature & purpose of these inner needs?

…Can you see the difference between inner needs and cravings?

INNER NEEDS DRIVE US TO A HIGHER PURPOSE.

Our inner desires represent a higher order or spiritual yearning. So, they can have a profound impact on our life and its direction. They also promote our individuality. They indicate our likely talents and encourage our creative potential. So, they promote the full expression of our unique individuality.

Our deepest desires are a powerful motivator and driving force. They help drive us in a direction that is aligned with our life purpose. They lead us to a more fulfilling role and to more joy in life. This helps resolve that empty feeling or incompleteness we might otherwise feel. We seek wholeness and a greater union with all that is.

Our deep inner desires also point towards our unique individual potential. These inner drives can give us the strength to overcome considerable challenges. They help us increase our capacity and reach our potential. They help empower our talents & abilities. In optimizing our ability, we benefit ourselves and others too. Sharing our special talents with others leads to even more happiness & fulfillment.

INNER DRIVES POWER OUR CREATIVE POTENTIAL.

We have a deep inner drive to express ourselves, and to share our perspective! This is a profound & heart-felt need! We want to share our talents, abilities and even our perspective or ‘take’ on life.

Each of us has a unique viewpoint. Our individual abilities & life experiences are different. No one else has the same combination that we do. So, we can all contribute in a unique way!

…Can you see how your inner needs make you unique?

EMBRACE YOUR INNER ESSENCE.

At its core, our inner drive has a beneficial and loving intent. This loving kindness is available for us to utilize. It helps to sustain and heal us! Through us, this loving nature can benefit others, and the planet too! This loving kindness is derived from our primary ‘Source’. This is connected to our human essence. But we must choose to express this, or not.

The expression of our deep inner nature has a powerful intent. It’s our driving force. But we also have free will. We personally choose to utilize this powerful drive or not. We can utilize our loving nature or try the alternative! We also decide exactly how we interpret our inner needs.

OUR UNIQUE INNER NATURE IS MOST IMPRESSIVE!

Our unique nature includes our individual talents, abilities & hidden capacity. This is our unique essence. This also encompasses our potential for growth & future achievements. This includes our experience of life and the wisdom we acquire. So, our true nature or essence includes the greater or spiritual component of who we really are. We are on an evolving spiritual journey that is unique to us!

…Do you feel like you have a unique inner nature or essence?
