SOS BOOK Chapter 20: Are you living a life of slow sabotage?

WE SABOTAGE OUR HAPPINESS.

Life can seem like a struggle and even a daily battle. We try to do what’s expected of us, or even more! However, we don't usually support our inner needs and our true nature! So, we don't feel content or at peace with ourselves!

Our usual routine, with its established habits & behaviors, inadvertently leads to a slow decline. There is a ‘slow sabotage’ of our happiness & wellbeing. It’s also the ‘slow suicide’ of our true potential. And we do this to ourselves!

BATTLING INNER CONFLICT IS VERY STRESSFUL.

So many of us are stuck in old, conditioned patterns. We are not true to our own inner needs & desires. We have unknowingly internalized the expectations of others. These include parents, friends, peers or role models in society. We then sacrifice our wellbeing & potential, because of someone else’s wishes.

This way of living produces a conflict with our true inner nature. This inner dissonance adds to our daily stress. We are living in resistance to our inherent drives & needs. This inner conflict becomes another source of suffering in our lives. We don't understand the negative effects, and so we continue to do this to ourselves!

…Are you affected by the expectations of others?

INNER DISCORD WASTES TIME & ENERGY.

Living in a constant state of inner discord is stressful. This is greater than we might appreciate. We waste precious resources battling this inner conflict. Not only do we waste time & energy, but we also diminish our vitality & wellbeing. What a waste of our true potential!

Conflict produces a state of resistance, rather than an effortless flow. Everything seems harder to do when we have inner conflict! There is less spontaneity & enjoyment. It can feel like we’re lost, or in a dense cloud. We can become anxious, sad or even depressed.

INNER CONFLICT CAUSES STRESS & DIS-EASE.

Inner conflict not only damages our state of mind & emotional wellbeing. The harm extends to our physical body & its internal mechanisms. Damage occurs by over-activating the body’s natural responses to stress. Inner conflict activates both the hormonal and neuronal responses to stress.

This constant low-grade stress can overload the body. Our stress management system was meant for temporary & occasional use. By resisting our true purpose, we overload this system and risk further damage!

…Do you recognize the damage that stress is causing?

STRESS LEADS TO DISEASE & ILLNESS.

Conversely, by living in balance, we conserve energy and maintain vitality. We avoid that resistance by following our passion & purpose in life. We simply choose to follow our joy. It's our choice!

Stress-overload depletes our body’s repair mechanisms. So, our biological DIS-function can turn to DIS-order. This can then lead to clinical DISEASE or overt ILLNESS. All this happens while we are preoccupied making other plans for our life!

ARE YOU LIVING A LIFE OF DISTRACTION?

We spend much time & effort avoiding our true inner nature. This avoidance strategy can even become our main preoccupation! Our lives can become a byproduct of this avoidance strategy. We don't live the life we meant to!

We can be so preoccupied with avoiding our inner needs, that we forget to have a real life!

…Are you avoiding life rather than living it?
