REVIEWING THE 3rd KEY:
OUR UNIQUE TALENT WILL POWER OUR QUEST.
How do we best express our talent & abilities? What is the right outlook and motivation to have in life? What will help us succeed in our life quest? A further exploration of the 3rd key can answer this.
How do we maintain our joy? We share all our talents & abilities! This helps power our journey by allowing more joy to build. This joy encourages us to discover even more talents. But what is the foundation for giving and being of service to others?
WE GIVE FREELY OF OUR TALENTS IN GRATITUDE.
Gratitude helps power our life quest. Not only are we grateful for our material comforts and our special talents. This gratitude is motivated by a deep appreciation that we are all connected.
We are deeply grateful for being connected to each other. We feel a Wholeness, a Oneness and a Union with all others. So, we would naturally want to give, and share our talent with everyone.
…Have you recognized the benefits of gratefulness in your life?
WE AIM TO LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY!
How far can we extend our gift of love? We might first start by sharing our gift with those immediately around us. Then we extend our ‘loving kindness’ or ‘compassion’ to those outside of our community. Eventually we could learn to give our love unconditionally! It’s possible to extend this love even further, by realizing all the many facets of Universal love.
This whole quest starts with us loving ourselves first! The aim is to be compassionate & loving in all that you do. This means being kind and compassionate to ourself, others and to all sentient life. Sentient life is any lifeform where a higher consciousness exists.
AIM TO MINIMIZE SUFFERING IN SENTIENT BEINGS.
The most fundamental aspect of being loving, is minimizing physical, psychological & emotional suffering. Scientific experiments confirm the ongoing damage caused by such suffering. Laboratory animals subjected to various forms of deprivation, shock & stress develop significant disorders. This is particularly significant when inflicted during early development.
Childhood deprivation can cause an inability to develop and learn properly. This ranges from behavioral abnormalities to predisposition to certain diseases. There is also an increase in anxiety, depression & psychosomatic disease.
SUFFERING CAN PRESENT IN DIFFERENT WAYS.
Many non-physical disorders can occur following perceived trauma or abuse. In experimental rat studies, a childhood trauma can remain hidden, but then show up long afterwards. A minor new trauma can reactivate an old issue and bring about behavioral symptoms. In humans, this is termed post-traumatic stress disorder. Pain syndromes often occur after childhood abuse. Many psychological & psychiatric disorders have components of trauma, abuse or some perceived abuse.
…How is suffering showing up in your life?
FIRST DO NO HARM.
Knowing all this, how should we proceed? By using loving kindness & compassion as our guide, we avoid harming ourselves and others. We avoid creating any new trauma. From this “first do no harm” point of view, we can then more safely express our talents. Then we are more likely to benefit others and ourselves.
