Many of us have engaged in the old materialistic path for some time. Our society & culture strongly encourages us to do this. Our media highlights all those flashy role models: the multi-millionaires as well as the movie, pop & sports stars. All that fame & adoration trains us to emulate this! All that hype can be hard to resist.
YOUR EGO WILL REINFORCE MATERIALISTIC PRIORITIES.
But remember where that Ego-driven path inevitably leads! Dissatisfaction & suffering is the inevitable result of a materialistic path. But right now, your Ego might be reassuring you: “That won’t ever happen to me”. Or your Ego is trying to convince you that “I am smart enough to manage fame & fortune”. Or it might say “I’ll easily cope because I only want a small portion of that success”.
BE CAREFUL BECAUSE YOUR EGO IS VERY CUNNING.
The Ego is very cunning! It knows all your hidden weaknesses and uses them against you. Your Ego will always find some rationale that will tempt you. It will even pretend it has a better strategy that will work ‘this time’. It will do anything to stay in control! Your Ego will try to sabotage your autonomy and your new direction. So, watch out!
FEAR, DOUBT & ANXIETY ARE THE EGO’S TOOLS.
Doubt & fear is the most frequent trick the Ego will use to keep you under its control. The Ego makes us fearful of trying something new. In reality, there is no true physical danger in starting a new direction. But the Ego makes us feel like there is.
