Getting A New Grill A Viking Smoker Grill

by Dave Valsunkski

The Viking smoker grill! We have all bought an item or items on impulse and have later regretted that decision. Making such decision can be costly. We shouldn’t do that when buying a grill. The Viking smoker grill is not that expensive. When buying a Viking smoker grill you do expect to get enjoyment and longer use than the cheaper smoker grills that are available on the market.

Another good advantage of purchasing the Viking smoker grill it has a regulator that allows you to control the amount of smoke to use when cooking your food. While some other smoker grills do have a regulator, the advantage of the Viking smoker grill has more flexibility. Just set the control to the desired level of heat and just come back every now and again to check that the food is cooking correctly. Unlike other models that do have a regulator but you are required to keep a constant eye on your food you are cooking.

The design of the Viking smoker grill is such that it produces healthy and fresh smoke at all times. This will make your food taste exciting.

Before cleaning your Viking smoker grill allow it to completely cool down before you remove the cooking grates. Never attempt to pour water on the hot grill grates. This is a sure way to damage and shorten the life of the grates. Also don’t wait a day or two to clean the grates. The dirt and food residues in the grill could become quite nasty.

Since the grates have cooled down, remove them and place them into soapy water for a while. Soaking in soapy water will soften and loosen any hard grim and burnt on food particles that may be attached to the grate. Using a stiff wire brush gently remove any loose, built up food and grime from the grates and allow to air-dry.

Now don’t forget the burners on your Viking smoker grill, they also need to be cleaned. If you have a charcoal grill remove the coal grate and brush inside. Cleaning the grass grill burners remove the lava rocks, briquettes or the metal flame burner. If you like you can wash the flame burner with soapy water making sure that you rinse well and leave the burner to air-dry before reassembling.

As an added precaution heat you Viking smoker grill for about 5 minutes. This ensures that it’s completely dry before you decide to store your Viking smoker grill. Just remember storing wet or damp items breeds bacteria and mold and that is certainly something no one wants.

A Wine Gift - A Special Gift Fit For Any Occasion

by John Wineberger

If you are searching for a gift that will nearly always please, then focus your attention to a wine gift. A nice bottle of wine fits any occasion and as long as the recipient is over the legal age limit for alcohol consumption, you are nearly always going to get a positive response. Wine gifting is a custom that dates back many years and today is more popular than ever. You can rest assured that a nice bottle of wine is never going to gather dust on someone’s shelf.

Wine Gift Baskets

A very popular way to give wine today is in the form of a wine gift basket. The basket usually contains a least a couple of bottles of wine and selected appetizers that are pre-matched to the wine. Chocolates are usually paired to reds, crackers and various yummy spreads with chardonnay and cheeses like Brie and fruit to sweet wines. Whatever the wine, there is always an appetizer that will be perfectly matched to it. If you would like to make your own gift basket, just go down to your liquor store and ask some questions. More often than not, the clerk will be able to help you.

Chosen Wine for The Month

With wine’s popularity increasing every day, gift shops and wine companies are finding new ways to market their product and one of these is a membership in a wine club. In fact, you can also give the membership away as a gift. Every month, the recipient will receive a different bottle or bottles of wine that you would have to originally choose for them. The price for this membership will generally set you back between $200.00 to $300.00. You will also have the option of choosing red or white wines or a combination of the two. Furthermore, if the person receiving the wine happens to like one, he or she will be able to reorder that same wine from the club.

Wine Gift Mixture

If one bottle of wine is not going to impress, then why not give two bottles and if that also makes you feel uneasy, why not give an entire case? However, remember that wine is always well received and is a gift that can easily stand on its own.

Choosing The Wine

If the recipient of the wine gift is a wine lover or a connoisseur of fine wines, maybe a vintage wine will be more appropriate. You should always try the wine before giving it as a gift as you need to know that the quality that you are paying for will measure up to the expectations and taste.

Vintage wines are nearly always presented in their own wooden wine gift box and if you are lucky enough, it will also be paired with a little booklet giving you some facts about the origins and a brief history of the wine. If this is not the case, you can always search for the wine on the Internet and hopefully come up with a little bit of background that you will be able to share with the person that the wine gift is intended for.

If you have really put an extra effort in getting that special bottle of wine, like driving to a winery that is miles out of town, you should let the person receiving the gift know about your little story. If they are wine lovers, chances are that they will find your story very interesting and even want to make the trip themselves if the wine impresses them.

Make Your Own Flavorful Salsa at Home - It’s Easy!

by Tony Bueler

There are salsa recipes which get passed on from generation to generation. Each successive generation keeps and preserves their own family ‘treasure’, and enjoy the flavors their ancestors had many years ago!

It’s easy to go to the nearby corner grocery store and pick up a jar of salsa, but making your own at home can be lots of fun and quite rewarding! If you have had a productive garden and have an overstock of tomatoes and peppers, salsa is an excellent way to use them up!

You will discover that making salsa and stocking up each year will be a regular goal of yours! You only need a basic supply of ingredients, a simple recipe and the process of making the salsa.

Typical salsa ingredients contain more or less of the following: green pepper, Jalapeno, tomatoes, red chili pepper, garlic salt or powder, onion, cilantro, lemon juice. Don’t be afraid to experiment!

As you can see, homemade salsa is full of vitamins and antioxidants that are known to keep your body stay healthy!

Personalize to your taste - Adding more jalapenos and other peppers will make the salsa hotter. In the same way reducing the number of peppers and adding more tomatoes will create a milder salsa.

It is important to know that the full strength and flavor of spices deteriorate with time so make sure to use fresh spices. And always use fresh oils as well. Like spices, oils will lose their flavor over time - some can even go rancid if kept too long.

When making salsa in your kitchen, be sure to put on a clean pair of rubber gloves to avoid skin irritation from the chili peppers. And keep the gloves from your face when handling hot peppers.

You will need all the supplies that you typically need when you are preserving tomatoes. You will need canning jars, lids and bands, a hot water bath canner, a large pot to cook the salsa, strainer, jar lifter, large bowl, and the ingredients from your recipe. Thoroughly wash all the utensils you will be using and boil the jars and bands. Warm the lids but don’t boil them. Leave the jars and the lids in the hot water up until the time you are ready to fill them.

Alternatively you can store them in your freezer. After making a large batch of salsa, simply divide it into small containers and place them in the freezer. You’ll be able to enjoy fresh-tasting salsa year round!

Tips on Sweet Sixteen Parties

by Hispanic

Marking the transition from childhood to adulthood, sweet sixteen parties are meant to be remembered. Your little girl is no longer the cute kid in a pink dress with pigtails. She may now be donning stylish jeans and have her hair tied up in a fashionable ponytail. She is also now more independent than before. To celebrate the momentous day in her life, throw her a birthday bash worth remembering.

Her birthday bash does not have to be extravagant for it to be memorable. Unless she wants a grand party, settle for something that’s within your budget and that won’t break the bank. You can always hold the party at your own home, or have it somewhere else. Consider fun spots like the beach, the theme park, arcade, or pool resort. You can spice up these places with balloons, crepe paper and other party favors.

Next, create a program and the activities for the party. The activities can come in the form of games, the sending of sentimental messages for your daughter, or better yet, a combination of both.

Finally, hire a DJ and install a good sound system for a night of dancing and partying. Once the clock hits ten, clear the dance floor and ask the DJ to pump up the tempo. You can serve your daughter and her guests “mocktails” to create a teenybopper version of an actual bar.

One more thing, your daughter is still far from the legal age. You can serve “mocktails” instead of real alcohol beverages to still give off a slightly mature feel to the event.

At the end of the day, your daughter store her sweet sixteen party in her box full of sweet memories.
