Parental Control Software Explained

by Chris Channing

Parental control software has a simple purpose: keep one’s child safe from all the harm that the Internet may bring. The Internet, as it has been made apparent in past decades, can be a very dangerous place for children who aren’t as educated as adults on what is safe and what isn’t. Because this is so, parents should always try to find a good parental control program if they wish to give their children access to the Internet.

Parents who don’t necessarily have the time to watch their children each and every time they want to access the Internet will do good in remembering the benefits of the remote monitor tool. A remote monitor tool, like the name suggests, will allow parents to view the computer screen of the child’s computer with a different computer altogether. This can make multitasking much easier- which is something parents have learned to do quite well in this day and age.

Many children are characterized as being rather gullible- which is perfect for an online predator to take advantage of. Predators can be very cunning, although it doesn’t often take much to convince a child otherwise. Therefore, parental control programs are necessary for blocking websites that may have been known for having online chats or other communes that predators lurk at. Other advanced features in such programs can also help ensure a child’s safety against such threats.

The whole family has benefit to gain from a parent control program. After all, if the family uses one main computer, it wouldn’t do anyone much good if the computer were to become broken as a result of being attacked by a hacker, a virus, or any other form of malware. Parental control programs can safeguard from such attacks through filters and features that “lock down” a computer in a secure form- making attacks no longer a threat.

Another benefit of the parental control program is to simply limit that amount of time a child is allowed to access the Internet. While there are times that Internet access is needed for schoolwork, much of the time children play on the Internet out of boredom. This can deter their health, which is dependent upon healthy exercise and outside play.

Lastly, a good parental control filter will protect a family from prosecution due to copyright infringement. Children often do not know the definition of copyright infringement, and thus will download music at will without disregard. This can turn out to be an expensive mistake, as owners of the music may seek to sue for damages in downloaded content.

Closing Thoughts

A strong parental control program can give parents a peace of mind in knowing that their children are safe when accessing the Internet. The benefits of having protection against a virus or spyware applications can also be well worth the investment. In the end, the small fee that most parental control programs charge for the wide range of benefits they offer is more than worth it- as it will pay for itself again and again in saved damages and repairs.

Court Records: News and Facts

by Jacques S Eskena (aka SavvyBusiness)

With 60 % of all new businesses failing to make it past the first year, everybody knows that risk taking is an integral part of running a business. Taking steps to ensure that such risks are measured takes an even greater importance when considering that if 1 an every 4 businesses fail in the first year, the figure reaches court records proportions over the course of 5 years when it becomes 3 out of 5!

When such risks are assessed, it is common to assume that external market forces are influential in the development of any business, and attempts at forecasting such forces should indeed be on the agenda of any business owner as these external factors do play an important part in the risk taking process. What is often times summarily brushed to the side are the internal risks though, factors that do not dependent on outside circumstances but rather on internal structure or even actions from within the company itself.

Workers operating heavy equipment for example introduce an added element of risk into the equation. Likewise, businesses operating motor vehicle also fall within this category where the human factor becomes a risk.

And it is not just in-situ that these types of risk can take place. Any business that has an interactive relationship between its employees and its customers runs a risk when an employee’s mistake takes place. For example, a company that sends employees to the home of its customers sees these risks extended outside of its walls and it is not just the risks that are compounded but the actual nature of said risks!

And so, an employee’s solitary mistake could have a potentially damaging effect on the business in financial terms which could affect its very livelihood and at best could result in a substantial increase in liability insurance premium.

In other words, one employee’s actions can have damaging consequences for the company in terms of reputation and eventual cost of a litigation process.

Of course, mistakes do happen and steps can and indeed must be taken to try and make sure they do not happen in the first place.

Business owners must therefore ensure that only the right people are employed so that should a mistake be made, it is not made by an employee with court records showing a less than desirable employment history or worse.

As such finding out about eventual court records are an essential and indispensable tool for any serious business owner even though this subject elicits unease and discomfort in a society which takes privacy of its citizen extremely seriously!

But we do live in a world ripe with litigation lawyers and lawsuits and the risks of damages imposed by a court to a company who has been found guilty of negligence or worse can mean the death of that company as a business.

After all, the idea here is not only to protect the business owner’s investment and business but also to ensure that the rest of the workforce are not adversely affected by the actions of a single person who should never have been hired in the first place. Court records then become essential for the job security of all other workers.

How Does VoIP Work: Getting the Answer

by Torrie Cantor

How does VoIP work? Like many people, you may have already heard of VoIP. If you weren’t born in this decade, you may still wonder what it really is. What can VoIP do for you and how exactly is it useful?

Basic Concept

VoIP simply means voice over internet protocol. These days, it is considered an alternative to the typical method of communication involving telephones. Instead of using telephone sets that transmit analog signals, VoIP converts these signals to digital chunks. These are reconverted to audio data when it reaches the recipient. The entire transmission happens over the internet. Although VoIP technology is still far from being preferred and considered standard, some people think that VoIP will eventually replace telephones. It could very well be the next step in communications technology.

The Specifics

In order to understand how VoIP works, it’s best to understand how typical phone calls first. Regular phone calls make use of what is called circuit switching. When you make a call, your call is passed through a series of switches starting from your phone carrier. Once the other party answers the call, the circuit between the two of you is opened.

VoIP uses packet switching. In this technology, your voice is converted to little packets of data. These packets of data come with their instructions of where they should be sent. They are then sent through a variety of possible routes. They take the nearest router and are passed on to succeeding routers until they reach the recipient. When the packets are received, they are reassembled into a form that can be understood.

Advantages of VoIP

VoIP can offer all the features and benefits of a phone service. Its advantage over traditional phones is that VoIP calls can be made from almost any part of the world. Wherever there is an internet connection, you can have VoIP. The technology can provide cheaper calls than standard telephone technology. This is mainly because VoIP does away with costly circuit switching.

Disadvantages of VoIP

VoIP is convenient, cheap and fast. It has, however its own disadvantages. These disadvantages are basically due to: (1) the current reliance of present systems on telephone technology; and (2) the shortcomings that plague computer technology.

External Connections - Such services for example as security and cable still rely on telephone connections. Unless the whole country or world agrees to switch to VoIP, these services are likely to stick to their old methods.

This isn’t the only concern. Since VoIP relies on internet technology, it is also susceptible to the problems that confront the internet and computers. You can therefore expect such problems as viral attacks, crashes and stolen packets.

Now you know the basic answer to how does VoIP work. In reality, this piece of technology does hold a lot of potential. Like everything else, the old ways of communicating over long distances can change. VoIP is the first logical shift that can be taken. It may take a long time however, before VoIP can become a fully integrated and snag free system.

Business Marketing Via Laminated Business Cards

by Chris Channing

Business marketing can be a tricky industry for those who are new to getting their name out on the market. But for those who are resourceful enough, opting for the lamination of business cards instead of going for conventional business cards can have several astounding benefits for businesses.

Investing in a business card can often be a pricey business. After all, it only takes a rainstorm, losing one’s grip of a business card, or even accidentally tearing it to make it completely useless. In this case, lamination is a good alternative to keep business cards safe in most situations- thanks to the shield of plastic that lamination offers.

The potential customer also benefits from the lamination of a business card, in the sense that they will always have an easy source of contact information thanks to the extended longevity in life of the business card. If a business card lasts longer, customers can appreciate a long term usage of it- which also in turn helps out businesses by reducing reprint costs.

Laminated business cards gives a lot of benefit to return on investment, but it also gives special benefit to potential new business. When a potential client is going through a pile of business cards in order to choose a business to take their requests to, they will commonly pick out the best looking business cards first. As lamination has a very sleek and shiny look on average, this can give businesses more business by standing out.

A small drawback to many laminated business cards is that writing on them is very difficult. Because of the plastic exterior, only certain types of markers will be able to leave a lasting mark on such business cards. This is poor for customers who wish to write notes on business cards for later. There are, however laminated business cards that have surfaces that are able to be written on- these, however, will cost extra for the business owners.

As far as pricing goes, it should be expected that business cards with lamination will almost always cost more than those that don’t. This is because it takes extra work and materials to give the coating its ability to shield all of the obscene from the business card inside. But as previously mentioned, the benefits can often be too great to ignore- as the longevity and repeat business that laminated business cards give is too beneficial to discount.

In Conclusion

The options in business card printing are vast- but choosing the right options and spending enough money can essentially give any investment a large return in the long run. The trick is, of course, to find out which options are worth paying for and which are a waste of time. But as businesses can well see, lamination is an option in business card printing and design that has too many benefits to not try at least once. After all, business marketing can be a tough game- and experimenting with what works and what doesn’t is half the battle.
