Bridal Shower Food Ideas
Filed under SocietyJun 15There are a variety of foods that you can serve at a bridal shower. There are also some that you may wish to avoid. The simplest thing is to eliminate what you can’t have. As the bride is the focal point of the shower, find out what she doesn’t like or can’t eat. Avoid serving foods that are commonly know to trigger allergies. It’s worth finding out from the guests if they suffer from any food allergies so those products can be avoided.
Now comes the fun. In your chosen bridal shower theme, see if you can fit some flavorsome dishes in with it. One idea you may consider is having a brunch party. Hold it on a Sunday and very soon it will stretch into a lazy, long afternoon. Make it informal and you will find the guests moving about and getting acquainted with everone. consider having a corner table with fresh bread, maybe another one with fresh fruit. Serving mini quiche is gaining in popularity at these type of events. Have a drinks table on one side of the room. Here you can serve cocktails and punch. Don’t forget some non-alcoholic fruit juices or coffee, too. Desserts are always a favorite. Try some fruit based ones like fresh berries coated in chocolate or some lemon squares.
If an evening shower is preferable, then a casserole is perfect. You can mingle whilst it is cooking. Better still. a casserole can be prepared beforehand. All you need to do is to heat and serve. Another idea is lasagna, served up with a bowl of green salad. Food like this is great for an evening do as it can be made up earlier in the day. It means you’re not stuck in the kitchen as your guests arrrive. If that is too heavy a meal then a smoked or grilled dish can be served. It only takes an occasional peek in the kitchen whilst it is cooking.
Do try and find out before the party if anyone is a vegan or a vegetarian so that you can serve up food to suit them too. For a casserole or lasagna, all you need to do is make a vegetarian option as well and you could also check the Internet for recipes.
Cake is traditionally served as a dessert at a bridal shower. Many people today though are moving away from tradition so feel free to break away and have something different as a dessert. You could consider offering pies or fresh fruit. What about a chocolate fountain as a centerpiece. These can be easily rented for the evening.
Finger food may be preferred as a lighter alternative. A table laid out with light bites is a great idea. People can just walk up and help themselves and still be able to converse with the other guests. Things like crackers and cheese or dips and tiny muffins are a good choice.
Choosing the right food will mean a great bridal or wedding shower. The choice lies with you and the bride.
