The Island of Menorca is the furthest east of the Balearic Islands, which are located off the coast of Spain. Certainly, for families the many Menorca holiday homes are ideal if you are looking to get away and relax. Many of these homes are in fact located close to some of the least crowded and most un-spoilt beaches in this part of Europe.

As well as you and your family spending time on the beach and taking a swim in the cool seas surrounding the island there are other things that one can do to keep you amused. But you need to be aware if you are looking for a holiday, which has plenty of sightseeing attractions then this is not the island for you. In fact, many people prefer to spend time here so that they can forget about the stresses and strains of modern living.

Although you may find yourself spending considerable amounts of time on the beach, there are going to be times when you will want to do something a little different instead. In this article, we look at some of the major attractions to be found on this island and which you and your family can enjoy.

1. Xoriguer Distillery - This is situated down on the harbour front of the Island’s Capital Mahon and is one place that the adults will enjoy. Here you can spend time on a tour the facility and watch how they produce various different drinks including Menorca gin before getting the chance to sample it.

2. Cales Coves - These are located seven miles from Mahon and can be easily reached on one of the many buses that head out towards them. Here you have the chance to explore these ancient burial chambers either with a tour guide or on your own but you will need to take a flashlight with you.

3. ES Freginal Park - Located in the very heart of Mahon this park offers plenty of space for you and the kids to enjoy. Moreover, it is here on the stage that the annual Summer Jazz Festival takes place as well.

4. Los Delfines Aquapark - If you are looking for a way to get rid of some excess energy then a visit to this attraction is a must for the whole family. It is located in 12,500 metres of land and has numerous different water activities that the whole family can enjoy. As well as Adventure River, the Giant Toboggan and Hydrotubes for those who are feeling that little more adventurous then a go on the Black Hole should not be missed.
